First Rapid Infuser for Research Grants - Medical / Health Care - Medical Research
This program is designed to support research examining early resuscitation of patients presenting in shock using the LifeFlow PLUS device, a simple hand-held tool for rapid delivery of fluids or blood products. LifeFlow was developed by 410 Medical and received FDA clearance for crystalloid administration in 2016, with subsequent clearance for blood and blood products in May 2020. Many hospitals and EMS agencies across the U.S. have adopted LifeFlow for the initial management of a wide variety of conditions including septic shock, anaphylaxis, post-ROSC hypotension, trauma, and obstetric or gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Accordingly, the intent of the LifeFlow Research program is to assist investigator-initiated resuscitation research. The research proposed by the applicant must be related to 410 Medical’s stated areas of research interest outlined below.
Specific Areas of Research Interest
410 Medical invites all investigator-initiated proposals that address 410 Medical’s research mission. General areas of research interest include, but are not limited to:
- Controlled studies that determine the relative effectiveness of LifeFlow PLUS in improving clinical outcomes of adult or pediatric hypotension/shock (e.g., sepsis, dehydration, post-ROSC, trauma, hemorrhage, etc.).
- Comparative-effectiveness studies that evaluate LifeFlow PLUS vs. traditional methods (e.g., pressure bag, push-pull) for fluid and/or blood product resuscitation in adults and pediatrics.
- Controlled studies that evaluate the timing, nature, and comparative effects of early fluid and or blood product delivery with LifeFlow Plus on the hypotensive patient’s hospital course.
Two LifeFlow Research Funding Opportunities: 1. Small Grants Research Funding
410 Medical is accepting requests from independent researchers for grant support to conduct clinical studies in early resuscitation. This a small grant program designed to facilitate educators and researchers to undertake performance improvement interventions or pursue small pilot data for larger funding opportunities. Funds will be awarded to qualifying healthcare institutions based on the merit and rigor of the proposal, as well as funding availability. Awards are contingent upon 410 Medical review and approval of study protocol, and on your local institution and IRB approvals. To apply, please review our application procedures and deadlines and then fill out a LifeFlow Small Grants Application.

2. LifeFlow Research Voucher
410 Medical is pleased to offer research vouchers for LifeFlow PLUS study devices. These vouchers are designed to support early-stage projects that need preliminary data for subsequent applications for federal or foundation grants and/or to supplement already funded studies. Fulfillment is contingent upon 410 Medical review and approval of study protocol, and on your local institution and IRB approvals. These are not cash awards and can only be used for in-kind device orders for approved research voucher requests. To apply, please review our application procedures and deadlines and then fill out a LifeFlow Research Voucher Request Form.
