Retinal vessel analysis system for Cardiology industry - Medical / Health Care
Retinal vessel analysis provides biomarkers on the condition and function of vessels as well as their regulation within microcirculation. It therefore complements the diagnostics of macrocirculation to include the non-invasive vascular diagnostics of microcirculation.

The parameters of vessel analysis are another step on the way to personalized medicine. Objective personalization is important because, for example, people with the same BMI or cholesterol levels can have completely different vascular functions. Retinal static vessel analysis provides biomarkers about the stationary vascular condition. The individual risk for cardiovascular diseases and events can be derived from this. This methodology is very well validated.
Dynamic retinal vessel analysis also shows great potential. A limited retinal endothelium-dependent regulation is a reflection of a systemic vascular dysfunction (MVD). Cardiovascular risk factors in particular (e.g. diabetes, dyslipidemia and arterial hypertension) lead to a restriction of the vascular function. Retinal MVD increases with increasing risk factors, from the development of CHD to heart failure.
In addition to assessing the individual cardiovascular risk, the method of retinal vessel analysis will further benefit the areas of therapy control and determination of preventive measures, monitoring of the success of a therapy, as well as the development of drugs.
