The Hydrostatic head defines the maximum Water Pressure that the fabric can withstand. This is an important performance criteria which is also defined in AAMI PB70 standards.
The Higher the Hydrohead the better is the Barrier performance of the fabric which finally translates into Infection control performance. This is achieved by the content and quality of the Spunbond and Meltblown present in the fabric and the PROCESS settings.
Though the number of Layers( thereby no of beams ) does influence the Fabric properties, the final mechanical strength and barrier performance offered by the product is the defining aspect of the Fabric.
The FINAL PROPERTIES of the fabric is WHAT matters towards the Performance of the end-product and not the NUMBER of BEAMS
