The need for a functional cure in the treatment of Severe Aortic Stenosis: Patients suffering from Severe Aortic Stenosis benefit from aortic valve replacement (AVR) therapy, both surgical, and more recently, via more minimally invasive approaches such as TAVR. However, life expectancy is yet to be fully restored via available therapies, and studies show that the younger a patient is, the greater the impact on long term survival. Younger and lower risk patients tend to be more active and would benefit from a valve replacement which most approximates normal function.
