The first ApiFix procedure was performed in April 2012. Since then, more than 500 AIS patients have been treated with the ApiFix procedure. During this time, the implant system, surgical technique, and patient indications have evolved, resulting in steadily improved outcomes.

A novel approach to scoliosis correction; The ApiFix procedure offers an innovative surgical option for correction of progressive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). It fills a crucial treatment gap, offering a less invasive, motion-preserving option for curve correction – without the permanence of fusion.

The majority of curve correction is achieved during the index procedure. The self-adjusting rod allows for additional post-operative correction over time and can accommodate further growth. This offers the ability to treat both skeletally immature and skeletally mature adolescent patients.

The posterior, unilateral approach of the ApiFix procedure reduces operating time as well as tissue disruption and bony anatomy removal. This may lead to reduced length of hospital stay and overall faster recovery as compared to more invasive surgical treatments.
