Current COVID19 guidance requires dental practice to observe AGP downtime or ‘fallow period’ after performing an aerosol generating procedure. ‘Fallow time’ dramatically reduces the number of patients a dental practice can accommodate, causing backlog and reduced efficiency. The rate of aerosol clearance in an enclosed space is dependent on the extent of any mechanical or natural ventilation and the size of the droplets created. The greater the number of air changes per hour (ACH), the sooner any aerosol will be cleared.
