BIOCAD designs and implements custom made cranioplasty prostheses, for the reconstruction of extended cranial defects.Thanks to the exclusive software and technologies,BIOCAD provides a valuable support to the Neurosurgeon, and guarantees to the patient the perfect reconstruction of the lost bone profile.

Each device is made with the use of material that has characteristics of absolute suitability, guaranteed by the CE marking, and chosen on the basis of compliance with specific technical standards. This material is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or bone cement. PMMA is a solid-state resin material, successfully used for years to correct cranial and maxillofacial defects.

Until recently the neoplasms of the basilar skull infiltrating in the sphenoidal orbitofrontal region have been treated by means of particularly invasive and laborious reconstructive surgery techniques.  Thanks to the ONE-STEP procedure and the accuracy of our custom-made implantations, these surgeries have now become technically faster and easier to perform, with excellent clinical and aesthetic results.  The images show a spheno-orbital meningioma treated with a protocol of surgical removal and reconstruction in a single procedure.
