SmarTest FIT Home test (Preventis)

The detection of haemoglobin in stool samples can be used as a marker of gastrointestinal bleeding as part of a colorectal cancer screening initiative. Hidden traces of blood in the stool can originate from tumours or polyps (lesions) in the lower gastrointestinal tract so when haemoglobin is detected in stool samples it is indicative of the presence of such lesions and is a trigger for further investigation. Studies have shown that when FIT (faecal immunochemical test) testing is employed and combined with confirmatory colonoscopy, precancerous lesion can be detected and treated in order to reduce mortality from colorectal cancer. The Preventis SmarTest® FIT Home test system consists of a rapid immunological test and a smartphone app. The rapid lateral flow test detects human haemoglobin in stool samples using gold-conjugated anti-haemoglobin antibodies. The SmarTest app is then used to scan and analyse the faecal haemoglobin (FIT) test result according to the intensity of the control and test lines on the lateral flow test. The quantitative results of the test are then displayed in the app and available for discussions and follow up with healthcare professionals.

SmarTest Calprotectin Home test (Preventis)

SmarTest® faecal calprotectin home test is a simple-to-use inflammatory bowel disease stool test that enables individuals with Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative colitis to monitor their disease activity at home. Patients can use the quantitative calprotectin test at home, or indeed anywhere, with minimum test preparation or disruption to their day. This in vitro bowel inflammation test measures calprotectin using gold-conjugated anti-calprotectin antibodies in a lateral flow test in conjunction with a smartphone app which quantifies and reports the result so that patients and providers can evaluate the effectiveness of treatment controlling the disease. The SmarTest app scans and analyses the faecal calprotectin test result according to the intensity of the control and test lines on the lateral flow test. The quantitative results of the test are then sent automatically to the Online Portal for the patient’s IBD clinical team to monitor remotely. The SmarTest Calprotectin Home test app also features a clinically validated disease activity questionnaire for Monitoring IBD at home (MIAH), providing a subjective approach to evaluating disease activity in conjunction with the bowel inflammation test.

Monoclonal Antibodies

Beta-Integrin

The MAb to human integrins can be used for immunohistochemical staining, immunoblotting and other immunoassays for cellular or tumour biology research. It interacts with the aIIb-subunit of β-integrins, specifically on platelets, megakaryocytes and leukemic cells that undergo megakaryocytic differentiation. A partially purified platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex is used as an immunogen for antibody production.
