Schizophrenia Theraphy For Treatment
More than 1% of the US adult population is affected by schizophrenia, with symptoms falling into three categories: positive (hallucinations and delusions), negative (flat affect, difficulty in social interactions) and cognitive (complications with attention and memory). The disease is currently treated with antipsychotics, which can lead to numerous serious side effects. We are developing an enzyme replacement therapy, CM-182, that may be helpful in the treatment of schizophrenia. Animal model studies of CM-182 have shown effectiveness in treating the positive symptoms of schizophrenia without sedation.
Treatment for Parkinson’s-Related Dyskinesia
Parkinson’s disease (PD), a progressive disorder of the nervous system with both motor and non-motor symptoms, currently affects one million people in the United States, with 50,000-60,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Although no cure exists for PD, various medications, surgeries, and physical therapies can help improve symptoms and reduce the disease’s progression. CM-PK may be able to affect dopamine levels in PD patients while also improving postural instability and reducing falls.
