Primary Human Hepatocytes

Cytes - Fresh Human Hepatocytes

The fresh human hepatocytes we offer are obtained and isolated from human donors for research purposes. These cells are a superior in-vitro model because they thrive in an environment closely resembling the in-vivo host environment.

Cytes - Cryopreserved Human Hepatocytes

Acquisition of hepatocyte samples is now a critical step for research activities. The limited availability of human hepatocytes makes cryopreservation a good option to provide researchers with a sufficient amount of viable liver cells.

Human NPCs

Cytes - Non-Parenchymal Cells Mix

Hepatic non-parenchymal cells (NPCs) represent about 30% of the liver and are specialized cells which interact with hepatocytes for several functions. For this reason, liver co-cultures may increase the sensitivity of liver models for ADME/Tox-related research by recapitulating the complexity of a whole liver. "Mix NPCs" provides a mix of different types of liver cells, including Kupffer cells, liver endothelial cells and Stellate cells.

Cytes - Primary Human Hepatic Stellate Cells

Hepatic stellate cells (HSC) are also known as perisinusoidal cells and they are located in the space of disses. These cells are the major cell type involved in liver fibrosis in response to liver injury and they play a key role in the homeostasis of liver extracellular matrix, repair, regeneration and fibrosis, and control retinol metabolism, storage and release.

Cytes - Primary Human Liver Endothelial & Sinusoidal Endothelial Cells

The liver contains two distinct endothelial cell types: vascular (LEC) and sinusoidal (LSEC). Liver Endothelial Cells (LEC) are highly specialized endothelial cells representing the interface between blood cells and the rest of liver cells. In fact, they represent the primary permeable barrier in blood vessels. They also have the highest endocytosis capacity of human cells.

Liver Cell

Animal Liver Cells & Subcellular Fractions

Primary animal hepatocytes and subcellular liver fractions (Microsomes, Cytosol and S9 fraction) are model systems often used for a variety of in vitro screenings and analyses prior to clinical studies in human and animal health as well as environmental toxicology. Hepatocytes in suspension are preferable for short-term studies whereas plated hepatocytes are more useful for long-term studies.
