The Mettis Trainer™ is an innovative shoe insert system that captures and displays running performance information on a smartphone. Each insert has three Bend Sensors™, one in the heel area, one on the lateral side of the foot, and one on the medial side of the foot. Each sensor reads independently and will tell you when each area of your foot strikes and what percentage of pressure that area of your foot absorbs. The hardware in the insert will then immediately send that information to your portable device for REAL-TIME feedback.

Flexpoint Sensor Systems (FLXT) is a leading supplier of thin-film sensing technology to many industries, including automotive, medical, industrial controls, and consumer products. Flexpoint manufactures a patented new flexible sensor that has also proven to be an extremely durable switch. The single-layer Bend Sensor® product allows for the measurement of mechanical movement, airflow, water flow, or even vibration. In addition, it has been tested to over 35 million cycles without failure. It can be used as a range of motion sensor or as a very durable, very reliable switch in most harsh environments. The Bend Sensor has no moving parts, is completely silent in operation, and is adaptable to a wide range of applications. The breadth of applications for our sensor is limited only by one`s imagination.

The Bend Sensor® is being used in numerous interactive glove applications in both the medical and gaming fields. The sensor gives immediate feedback to hand movement. In November 2009, the Bend Sensor® technology was featured in a study by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, using an interactive glove, and was recommended as a possible tool to assist doctors in neuroscience studies in determining a patient`s level of monitor skill or post-surgical evaluation and therapy or for assisting the disabled. Due to the ability of the sensor to measure the range of motion, the study also recommends using the Bend Sensor® technology as a tool to design ergonomic devices. The University has continued its research and has identified additional medical applications of our sensors.

The Bend Sensor® technology has many potential applications in the medical device sector. A key marketing strategy is to pursue product applications that emphasize functionality, reliability, quality, and user convenience. In the medical product area, such applications might include infusion pumps, respiratory therapy equipment, obstetric equipment, rehabilitative and physical therapy equipment, pelvic stabilization devices, pressure-monitoring devices, etc.
