Using the introducer and a further length of flexible reinforced airway tubing, the method of retrograde nasal intubation allowed the oral airway to be changed to a nasal airway.

Consequently, the NASAL LARYNGEAL MASK and the INTERCHAGEABLE ORAL/NASAL ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE were developed.
