Chronic respiratory diseases affect nearly 550 million people worldwide. Although these conditions are incurable, treatment is available to manage symptoms. Rapid diagnostic tests are crucial in the early detection of an exacerbation, thereby limiting the potential of unfavourable health consequences and improving the patient’s quality of life.

Rapid Diagnostics for epidemics are critical for the surveillance, containment and elimination of epidemics in the absence of a vaccine programme. Since 2018, Global Access Diagnostics (GADx) has increased its focus on epidemics and neglected diseases, with support from the Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, the UK government, and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND). By detecting outbreaks early, in settings where laboratory capacity is limited, we can support more precise and responsive public health measures and immunisation campaigns.

Rapid test for detection of two recognised markers (IL-6 and MMP-8) in peritoneal dialysate. Detection of either or both markers indicates the potential presence of peritonitis. Results in 10 minutes.
