Inmatec GaseTechnologie GmbH & Co. KG applications
Nowadays, the medical care of animals in veterinary clinics or with veterinarians also involves the supply of medical oxygen. In this regard, it is important that oxygen is available quickly and without interruption to ensure that the life of the animal is not put at risk. Ensuring the oxygen supply is therefore a top priority in veterinary medicine.
Oxygen with a purity of approx. 95% is required in many pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications. Certain process steps in the manufacture of medicines, antibiotics, additives, biopolymers or acids are carried out in fermentation reactors, for example. Cell cultures, bacterial strains, and microorganisms are cultivated in this manner. In addition to a special nutrient solution, oxygen is needed for the cultivation process.
Nitrogen is used in many areas of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Blanketing, cleaning and explosion prevention are just some examples. For example, nitrogen is used in jet mills in which pharmaceutical products are crushed and ground. In this context, pressure is used to press a gas into the mill at high speed. The materials circulating in the mill collide with the mill wall and with each other. This process causes the materials to decompose into ultra-fine particles. The use of nitrogen as a grinding gas and, at the same time, as an inert gas effectively prevents explosions in the resulting dust atmosphere.
