OcuRing is a bioerodible sustained-release implant applied to the haptic of an intraocular lens (IOL) for use in cataract surgery. Once implanted inside the eye, the OcuRing continuously releases medications for treatment and prevention of postoperative complications of cataract surgery.

LayerForm is a proprietary coating process that stably incorporates drugs from water into a thin polymer film atop a substrate surface (anything from a prosthetic device to nanoparticles). The coating is generated as polymers and drugs self-assemble onto the substrate via complementary electrostatic interactions one molecular layer at a time. In a physiologic environment, the coating degrades in a controlled manner, delivering its therapeutic payload to target tissue.  LayerBio is developing this technology for a variety of regenerative medicine applications, including: Wound healing; Achilles tendon repair.
