CognitOss Putty - Open Tibial Shaft Fractures

Despite advances in surgical techniques and fixation, the treatment of open tibial shaft fractures continues to be associated with high rates of delayed union and nonunion.1, 2, 3 Delayed healing of tibial fractures is reported to be more likely in the presence of infection.4, 5 which increases the risk to the patient of amputation. Still in stealth mode – CognitOss Putty is being developed to bring together all the key advances we have made on Instructive Tissue Scaffolds from CertOss Conduit, and Programmed Drug Release of both rhBMP-2 from LDGraft and antibiotics from CognitOss Foam.

Chondro3 is our pioneering solution to the difficulty of treating osteochondral lesions. These can occur in any joint but are most common in the knee and ankle. Such lesions are a tear or fracture in the cartilage covering one of the bones in a joint and involved damage to both the cartilage and a piece of the underlying bone.

CertOss Conduit is a novel, 100% synthetic bone graft. It brings together the key discoveries by the leading scientists in the field from the last 30 years. Our proprietary graft builds on the discovery by Ripamonti that new bone only formed in the concave surfaces of a ceramic bone graft when implanted into muscle.1 It goes further, but leveraging the finding by Fukuda that new bone was able to form in the centre of titanium tubes implanted into muscle.2



CognitOss Foam - Antibiotic Loaded Bone Graft

An antibiotic-loaded bone graft with a dual and responsive release, for the treatment of osteomyelitis. Osteomyelitis is a devastating disease caused by the infection of bone tissue. When the bone becomes chronically infected, oral antibiotics become ineffective. The infected bone must be surgically removed and simultaneously, the local infection cleared.

LDGraft - Bone Graft

LDGraft uses a powerful protein called rhBMP-2 to drive cell differentiation and bone formation. rhBMP-2 is the most studied growth factor in bone grafting and is the only growth factor which has so far been able to demonstrate equivalent fusion to autograft in lumbar fusion as part of a Tier 1 study. At Locate Bio, we are working hard on a next generation of rhBMP-2 growth factor product.
