Pulse Technologies - Hierarchical Surface Restructuring Technology

Electrodes and microelectrode arrays in most long-term implantable neurostimulation devices demand low impedance for sensing and recording applications, and high charge injection capacity to achieve safe and reversible stimulation. Electrodes with larger geometric surface area perform better, but they take up more space, limit the device’s spatial selectivity and can harm patients. Maximizing device performance and selectivity often requires introduction a larger number of electrodes or constructing a microelectrode array to activate more neurons or discrete groups of neurons.

Pulse Technologies - Precision-dimensioned Surfaces Technology

A client’s medical device required a high tolerance ID bore and a surface free of imperfections. Utilizing our material science and machining knowledge, we customized our equipment and process to deliver on their specific need, and continually refine our technology to ensure its performance.

Pulse Technologies - Custom Implant Alloys

Pulse began developing alloys in 2007 in response to a market need for alloys specific to the medical device field. While tailoring properties required for the medical market, we developed a novel approach to alloying. Pulse’s series of alloys are ceramic-reinforced metals with the ceramics found at the grain boundaries. These ceramic clusters retard crack propagation in the material, making it stronger while still allowing some deformation to achieve a desirable yield strength.
