QuantView GmbH introduces a novel contrast agent utilizing Pyruvate enhanced with hyperpolarization via Parahydrogen-Induced Polarization (PHIP) for metabolic imaging. The company's meticulous approach ensures transparency by detailing the structure and properties of the agent due to its internal application in patients. PHIP requires an unsaturated bond typically found in molecules like unsaturated fatty acids. Pyruvate is a crucial metabolite in energy production as it originates from glucose breakdown and enters the citric acid cycle. However, its lack of an unsaturated bond poses a challenge for direct hyperpolarization through PHIP. QuantView overcomes this by incorporating an unsaturated side arm to the pyruvate molecule, facilitating parahydrogen absorption to induce hyperpolarization. This side arm can be detached post-polarization, leaving hyperpolarized pyruvate ready for efficient imaging metabolism studies.
