Biomedical Research - Oxygen Electrode & Chambers
Strathkelvin - Electrode Holder
For use with custom designed respiration chambers. The electrode holder is a black acetal cylinder in which the electrode is located so that its tip projects from the end. The holder is used for the insertion of the electrode into the customers’ own respiration chamber. An acrylic collar containing an “O” ring on its inside surface is also provided. This can be cemented over a 13mm hole drilled in the wall of the respiration chamber to facilitate insertion of the electrode holder. The electrode should never be used other than in an electrode holder, to avoid ground-leak damage to the electrode.
Strathkelvin - Tucker Cell
The oxygen content of blood can be measured accurately and quickly by the method of Tucker (1967). A small sample of blood is introduced into the chamber containing a solution of ferricyanide. The resulting release of bound oxygen produces an increase in PO2 which is detected by the oxygen electrode. The oxygen content can be calculated from the PO2 change. The base section of the TC 500 is identical to that of the MC 100 microcell. The cell is formed of precision-blown glass and is sealed by an acrylic plunger, through which the sample is introduced. The TC 500 is supplied with a full instruction manual.
Strathkelvin - Flowcell for Continuous In-Line Oxygen Monitoring
For continuous in-line oxygen monitoring or for connection to a flow-through respirometer chamber. The acrylic chamber of the flowcell forms a threaded connection to the integral electrode holder. Only the tip of the electrode projects into the water flow. The inlet and outlet tubes are made from stainless steel. To enable the flowcell to be immersed below the surface of the constant temperature bath containing the respirometer chamber, the electrode holder is fitted with a collar for attachment to a vertical or horizontal 6.25mm (1/4″) diameter laboratory rod.
