We are world leaders in the development and application of the XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) for the analysis of the surface properties of a wide range of materials that are more and more being found in everyday use. Over the decades Kratos has been at the forefront of developing X-ray photoelectron spectrometers, data acquisition and processing software which is reviewed in a brief overview of the history of our products.

Also our MALDI (Matrix Associated Laser Desorption and Ionisation) mass spectrometry business is recognised to be at the forefront of its development and application as applied to the analysis of biomolecules and more recently to it’s introduction into an invitro-diagnostic role.

We are proud to develop and manufacture products in Manchester, while both business areas utilise the latest in high speed digital and analogue electronics as well as ion optics design methodologies and software development techniques to push the boundaries of the techniques and their applications.
