SSoolluuttiioonnss SSeerrvviinngg SScciieennccee Magnum Transferlines EXTENDED TRANSFERLINES FOR IRD/MSD UNIQUE DESIGN In hyphenated applications such as GC/IRD/MSD, the MSD detector is separated from the GC by an additional detector. This extended length requires a transfer device that is lightweight, temperature programmable, under high vacuum and has a low thermal mass. GC/IR can provide molecular level analysis of unknowns without destroying the compound. GC/MS can provide mass fragmentation data and molecular weight but not geometric model information. With the addition of the ASAP Analytical transferline, the IRD can be coupled to the MS and provide this molecule geometry from a single injection. GC/IRD/MSD provides the bridge between spectroscopy and chromatography. A single injection into the GC will simultaneously produce IR and MS data. The two largest markets in Analytical Chemistry, according to President Don Harris, are Chromatography and Spectroscopy and the instrument that can interface these two technologies would definitely provide the scientific community with a problem solving tool. “The instrument to combine these two technologies does exist but has not been updated or supported for years and the analytical community has lost awareness of the product,” said Harris. This is the primary focus of ASAP to build, sell and support those technologies that bring additional capabilities to the analytical marketplace. To help ASAP achieve its goals, the company has been organized into three product lines that are complimentary to each other and very customer focused.
