Ecomondo - The Green Technology Expo - 2024
Ecomondo is the key event for green and circular economy. It’s the meeting place where industrial groups, stakeholders, policy makers, opinion leaders, local authorities, research bodies and institutions come together and put in place the key elements that define the strategies for the development of EU environmental policy.
Ecomondo, the ecological transition ecosystem, is the place for industry, stakeholders, policy makers, opinion leaders and local authorities to meet and talk. It brings together and systemises the key elements that define the development strategies of the European Union`s environmental policy.
It is the reference international event in Europe and the Mediterranean basin for technologies, services and industrial solutions in the green and circular economy sectors.
A hub for research and innovation, it hosts the leading companies in environmental services, solutions and technologies, covering water management, waste disposal, textiles, bioenergy, soil management and protection, transport, agriculture and sustainable cities.
Over the 4-days event and throughout the year, Ecomondo addresses issues related to the progress of Next Generation EU flagship projects and the level of adoption in Italy and Europe of the circular economy in the main industrial value chains, as well as the restoration and ecological regeneration of soils and the hydrosphere, coastlines and circular and healthy cities.
It also provides information and networking opportunities on funding for research and innovation as well as new policies, and offers insights into the new languages of communication to facilitate the transition to sustainable processes and high-quality training opportunities.
It proposes an extensive programme of conferences, seminars and events through the involvement of the Technical Scientific Committee chaired by Professor Fabio Fava with a pool of 80 top scientists, engineers, managers and representatives from national institutions, sector associations and federations, consortia, agencies and institutes, to name but a few, but also European and international institutions.
Ecomondo interprets Italian Exhibition Group`s international development and geoclonation policy and gives birth to a network of international and national events such as: Ecomondo Mexico and Ecomondo China - CDEPE.
Ecomondo closed its 26th edition (November 7-10, 2023) with 15% more attendance than in 2022 (a figure that is even more significant since, last year, it took place at the same time as KEY Energy Transition Expo, which has now earned its own calendar slot).
In particular, the Ecomondo audience is a B2B audience, representing sectors such as industry and services, but also distribution and institutions, more than 60% hold senior roles.
The number of countries of origin of Ecomondo visitors is growing, mainly from the Euro-Mediterranean area led by Spain, Germany, Greece, Serbia, Egypt and Tunisia, followed by Sub-Saharan Africa.
Preserving the planet by investing in and enhancing renewable energy sources, popularizing and being protagonists of sustainable behavior, but not only that: during the 25th edition in 2022, Ecomondo has receive ISO 20121 certification!
We can already observe several innovative measures at the shows:
- the absence of carpeting in the aisles inside the pavillons, which generates an environmental saving of more than 140 tonnes of carpet per year
- collecting and recycling cigarette butts
- choosing the sustainable of the fittings with the zero waste route
- use of wood products and derivates
- making the fairgrounds accessible to the disabled
As part of a larger project that involves the awarding of certification to Italian Exhibition Group for Rimini Expo Centre - Vicenza Expo and Conference Centre and Palacongressi di Rimini by the end of 2023, ISO 20121 certification recognises our commitment to adopting circular economy models and spurs us on to improve as an event and as a group because an event is sustainable:
"when it is designed, planned and implemented in a way that minimises negative impacts on the environment and leaves a positive legacy for the host community" - United Nations Environment Programme.

The 2023 Report on circular economy in Italy provides an updated picture of our country’s performance and the policies adopted at European and national level, together with a focus on consumption circularity and an in-depth analysis of critical raw materials, to conclude with the proposals made by the Circular Economy Network.
Circular Economy In Latin America and the Caribbean
This document is the result of a joint effort by members of the latin america and caribbean circular economy coalition, instance promoted by the forum of ministers of the environment of latin america and the caribbean, led by four of its strategic partner organisations: the ellen macarthur foundation; the regional programme energy security and climate change in latin america of the konrad adenauer foundation; inter-american development bank; united nations environment programme, and with support from the global opportunities for sustainable development goals, who worked closely to combine their complementary knowledge and expertise on this broad topic.
Not only product displays but also special contents. There are several areas that are enhanced within Ecomondo 2023, real thematic and exhibition districts among which the Textile District and the PNRR Observatory stand out, which includes WEEE, Paper District and Plastic Value Chain.
In addition to these, there is the cluster dedicated to the Blue Economy and the new Innovation area, which includes Start-Up & Scale-Up projects as well as, for the first time in Ecomondo`s history, the thematic and educational area dedicated to Green Jobs, where training and information events are combined with the organisation of speed dates to bring together job supply and demand.

NEXT GENERATION EU
to present and examine the degree to which Next Gen EU flagship projects have been implemented nationally, with a particular focus on the textile and food industries, agriculture, water services and the construction sector.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
to present and examine the degree to which the circular economy has been adopted on a European and international level in terms of process and product efficiency, ecodesign, product reuse and repair, waste management and recycling in the textile, WEEE, plastics, paper-cardboard, automotive, agrifood and municipal organic waste sectors.
ECOSYSTEMS REGENERATION
to present and examine the restoration and regeneration of soils, the hydrosphere and their ecosystems, in the EU and the Mediterranean area, with a particular focus on the sustainable production and valorisation of agro-food and agro-forestry resources, the sustainable use of water resources and the sea (blue economy) and the associated integrated management and valorisation of waste water.
Conferences and workshops will be organised on research and innovation, new regulations and procedures, investment and financing, training and communication, internationalisation, and the promotion of start-ups.
Also in 2024 Ecomondo will host the States General of the Green Economy, a multi-stakeholder process involving all relevant actors of green economy in Italy.
The initiative is promoted by the National Council of the Green Economy in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security and the European Commission. The States General aims to promote a shift in the Italian economy towards a green economy, so to develop opportunities for a sustained and sustainable development, recovering from the economic and climate crisis.
