Latex Allergy and Potential Exposure Risks Discussed in New Online Video
The IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video today. Their newest production discusses latex allergy, which is a reaction to certain proteins found in latex rubber.
“Natural latex rubber has been used in many products over the years,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates and the IAQ Video Network. “Unfortunately, sensitivity to latex exposure can develop in some people. Reactions could include irritant contact dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis (delayed hypersensitivity), and latex allergy (immediate hypersensitivity). For those exposed to latex in the workplace, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health warns that the amount of latex exposure needed to produce sensitization or an allergic reaction is unknown. We hope this new video helps to share information about latex allergy and mitigating potential exposure risks.”
This video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect and enhance the public's health and safety. Sponsors include EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, CTSI, and Healthy Indoors Magazine to name a few.
