Medical Microinstruments Participates in the “Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery Systems (TREMIRS)” Project
PISA, Italy. June 8.2022 - Medical Microinstruments (MMI), a robotics company dedicated to improving clinical outcomes for patients undergoing microsurgery, today announced that it will participate in 'THE MINIMALLY INVASIVE ROBOTIC SURGERY SYSTEMS project (TREMIRS). REFERENCE: CPI-2019-33-1-TRE-14. in the framework of the Line for the Promotion of Innovation from the Demand for the Public Purchase of Innovation (FID-CPI Line) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation and a total budget of 7,345,300.00 €, has been co-funded (80%) by the European Regional Development Fund through a grant given by the Regional Ministry of Economy. Industry and Tourism (5.876.240,00€) and co-funded (20%) by Consejerfa de Economfa.Cienciay Agenda Digital of Govern of Extremadura (1.469.060,00€).'
TREMIRS aims to improve the currently available surgical robotic systems for both laparoscopy and microsurgery to offer better solutions for patients, improved ergonomics for surgeons and greater performance for surgical teams to ultimately improve the quality of care. There are two aspects of this project: (l)The development of a robotic platform for laparoscopic surgery that addresses the limitations of current robotic laparoscopic surgery systems available on the market, and (2) the development of a teleoperated robotic platform for reconstructive microsurgery, consisting of robotic micro-instruments with high maneuverability and precision.
Together with Jesus Uson Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (Spain). MMI will address the 2nd part of the project related to advancing a Robotic platform for microsurgery. The project will focus on specific improvements to the Symani® Surgical System, which received CE mark in November of 2019, and the development of additional NanoWrist® Instruments.
