Neogen announced today the launch of K-Gold® Plus, a new PNPP (p-nitrophenyl phosphate) substrate that combines the ease of use of its previous PNPP substrate with an improved signal-to-background performance.

Similar to the original formulation, Neogen’s new K-Gold Plus is a one-bottle, ready-to-use solution that offers long-term stability and non-hazardous labeling. K-Gold Plus also offers improved performance (a 30-40% enhanced rate) and an improvement of 60% in its signal-to-background ratio compared to the original K-Gold substrate.

“We are excited to offer a new and improved K-Gold Plus substrate for assay manufacturers who develop alkaline phosphatase-based test kits,” said Neogen’s Emilie Stanley. “K-Gold Plus is a one-bottle, ready-to-use PNPP substrate formula that allows assay manufacturers to provide a consistent product to their end users. Traditional tablet-based PNPP substrates require mixing and preparing reagents prior to use — which increases the possibility of errors and unpredictability for end users. We also prioritized the development of a formula that was non-hazardous and didn’t require special hazardous shipping labels.
