BARNEVELD – Foeth, the Dutch leading European pre-owned process equipment dealer, is helping a major pharmaceutical company in Switzerland to dispose of surplus API production equipment in a sustainable and financially attractive way that became recently available from a production location in Basel. Foeth is responsible to market the re-use of the process equipment to possible end users in the API and related specialty chemical and pharmaceutical industries worldwide. The complete project involves the dismantling of around 150 high quality used process machines with renowned brands such as Buss, Pfaudler and Alfa Laval.

All items will be professionally dismantled prior to 31 December 2020 by Permatech from Germany, including preparation for transport. The process equipment is being marketed globally by Foeth and after sales directly shipped to new owners. If not directly sold, the items will be stored at Foeth’s +35,000m2 premises in Barneveld for future sales.

For the Swiss pharmaceutical company, a global leader in pharmaceutical industry, the environmental and financial benefits of this project with Foeth are evident. The avoided CO2 emissions are substantial as with every ton of steel that is not scrapped, an amount of 3,2 ton CO2equivalent emissions are avoided. In addition, instead of treating the machines as waste, now they have become a circular product and will be re-used. Finally the reselling of the equipment will also bring in a decent financial return. As such the concept is a win-win for all parties involved.

More surplus disposal projects are to be expected in the future, as more bulk pharmaceutical production will be phased out in the future from Switzerland and other European locations and concentrated in global centers. All items from the project can be found online at: API plant equipment
