Marysville to Melbourne Multisport adventure race - category win for Team Ecotech
On Sunday 28th April a team from Ecotech won the corporate team of 6 division in the Marysville to Melbourne multisport race.
This is an annual event that sees over 200 individuals and teams race 155km from the mountains north of Melbourne to Port Melbourne over 8 - 14 hours.
Our team consisted of James Agius, Steve Chamberlain-Ward, David Brown, Nicholas Dal Sasso & Paul Dal Sasso.
The event consists of:
Stage 1: 20km mountain run - James tackled this and put us into 3rd place in our division.
Stage 2: 50km road cycle - Steve tackled over 20 km of mountain climbing to move us up into 2nd place and 95th overall, over taking more than 30 riders in the process.
Stage 3: 40 km road cycle - David from our systems department tackled the course which included a very technical 7km descent to move us up into 82nd overall and hold 2nd place in our category.
Stage 4: 12.5km trail run - Nicholas charged through the course in less than 54 minutes pushing us up to 61st overall and making up ground on Deakin University who were holding 1st in our category.
Stage 5: 15km paddle - Paul overcame a shoulder injury to keep us in contention. We were still holding 2nd place but dropped to 98th overall as stronger paddlers pushed through.
Stage 6: 16km paddle - Steve stepped into the kayak to try and catch Deakin Uni, which he did with 5km to go to move into 1st place in our team category.
Team Ecotech finished in 9:54:10, 97th overall and 1st place in the Corporate team of 6 division. It was a brilliant effort by everyone who competeted. Team Ecotech will be back again next year to try and defend our title and hopefully improve our overall position.
