Chengyi - HDI Board
From Consumer Electronics
HDI Board, 0.18mm BGA, POFV 4L ENIG. HDI Board – High Density Interconnect. HDI boards are one of the fastest growing technologies in PCBs and are now available at Epec. HDI boards contain blind and/or buried vias, and typically contain. 006 diameter or smaller. They have higher circuit density than traditional circuit boards. Circuit boards with higher wiring density per unit area compared to traditional circuit boards are called HDI PCBs.

What is HDI Board?
HDI Board offers the finest trace structures, smallest holes and blind buried vias (microvias). HDI technology enables highly compact and reliable printed circuit board designs.
Advantages of HDI Board The most common reason for using HDI technology is significantly higher packing density. The space gained by finer track structures and micropores can be used for components and their landing surfaces. In addition, the overall space requirement is reduced, resulting in a smaller board size and fewer layers required.
Common uses of HDI Board
HDI PCBs are often used in complex electronic devices that require superior performance while saving space.
Applications include mobile/cellular phones, touchscreen devices, laptops, digital cameras, 4/5G network communications, and military applications such as avionics and smart munitions.
Lighter weight means more efficient operation in the automotive and aerospace industries, which have been using HDI PCBs at an ever-increasing rate. Like almost everything else, cars are becoming more connected and computerized. There are about 50 microprocessors in today's cars, which play a role in engine control, diagnostics, safety features, and other conveniences. Many advanced features such as in-vehicle WiFi and GPS, rear-view cameras and backup sensors rely on HDI PCBs. As automotive technology continues to advance, HDI technology is likely to play an increasingly important role.
HDI PCBs also play an important role in medical equipment; advanced electronic medical equipment, such as monitoring, imaging, surgery, laboratory analysis, etc., use HDI boards. High-density technology facilitates improved performance and smaller, more cost-effective devices, potentially increasing the accuracy of monitoring and medical testing.
Industrial automation requires a lot of computerization, and IoT devices are becoming more commonplace in manufacturing, warehousing, and other industrial settings. Many of these advanced devices utilize HDI technology. Today, businesses use electronic tools to track inventory and monitor equipment performance. An increasing number of machines include smart sensors that collect usage data and connect to the internet to communicate with other smart devices and relay information to management and help optimize operations.
