These autoantibodies are found in 50 to 70 % of children with diabetes mellitus and 20 to 30 % of affected adults. In rare cases, insulin-dependent diabetes patients generate antibodies against exogenous insulin. These antibodies can give rise to insulin-resistance and should therefore be controlled regularly when monitoring insulin therapy. The wells of the Anti-Insulin ELISA from ORGENTEC are coated with a mixture of bovine, pig, and recombinant human insulin.
