ENT Navigation System optical and electromagnetic navigation - going strong since 2001. Since 2001 ERGOSURG is developing optical and electromagnetic navigation systems for Karl-Storz SE & Co. KG.
Interventions in the paranasal sinuses, frontal sinuses, sphenoid sinuses or maxillary sinuses often have to be performed efficiently and in a short chronological order on a day of surgery. A surgical navigation system must be easy to use and intuitively understandable in the respective national language. The preparation time must be short and the instruments must be able to meet the most varied cleaning requirements. Safety features such as distance measurement from risk structures or the deactivation of active instruments prior to contact with the risk structures are just as much a matter of course as convenient intervention planning and documentation.
The optical navigation system uses a highly advanced optical measuring system. Tiny, high-precision glass reflectors are mounted on the navigable instruments. The measuring system detects the position and orientation of the glass reflectors in six spatial degrees of freedom with a high degree of accuracy twenty times per second. This allows for real-time representation of instrument position and orientation.
High Precision and Accuracy with Unique Glass ReflectorsThe patented glass reflectors are produced via a complex manufacturing process with maximum precision. Each instrument is individually tested for compliance with the required level of accuracy. Due to the special glass and a special coating, small glass reflectors (diam. 5 or 10 mm) can be integrated. This keeps the instruments light and easy to use.
Autoclavable and Reusable InstrumentsAll instruments and trackers can be sterilised by autoclave and are reusable. Because of the high quality build, there are no special costs incurred by single-use components or instruments that can be sterilised only a few times.
