Hormones are chemicals released by cells that affect other cells in different parts of the human body. Only a small amount of hormones is required to alter one`s cell metabolism. It also has a function of a messenger, having the ability to transport signals between cells. Hormones in animals are often transported through the blood stream. Many processes in the body are coordinated by hormones which regulate and balance the working of organs and cells. Some hormones have long term effects, for example, the hormones that control how we grow and the changes that happen at puberty. Other hormones have shorter term effects. Too much, or too little of a hormone can cause several health problems to an individual and it can ultimately result in different illnesses.

Having said that, keeping track of one`s hormones can help finding explanations for different health concerns and even allow the proper treatment for a specific condition or disease.

With that in mind, we have developed a line of products using our ELISA technique to determine the diagnosis of several different health issues related to abnormal hormone levels. Cells respond to a hormone when they express a specific receptor for that hormone. The hormone binds to the receptor protein, resulting in the activation of a signal transduction mechanism that ultimately leads to cell type-specific responses.

ELISA is based on the ability of low molecular weight antibodies to couple with enzymes, to produce enzymatically active immunological conjugates. This allows the detection of immune reaction with histochemical staining techniques, because the antibody component is involved in immune reaction and the conjugated enzyme can be used for staining reaction utilizing appropriate substrate.
