Hybridmesh - Semi-Absorbable Mesh
From Inguinal and Abdominal Hernias - Inguinal Hernias
A partially absorbable prosthesis for treating inguinal hernias. Hybridmesh® is a quadriaxial co-knitted mesh with 25% of non-absorbable polypropylene (PP) monofilament and 75% of absorbable polylactic acid (PLLA) monofilament. The prosthesis weighs 80 g/m². The polylactic acid filaments give the mesh the right level of rigidity for quick and easy positioning. After the polylactic acid filaments have been fully absorbed (in approximately 7-10 months), the residual polypropylene mass weighs just 20 g/m², leaving a soft, light and comfortable mesh implant.

Advantages
The advantages of the semi-absorbable mesh:
- it is highly manageable (easy positioning)
- because of its structure, Hybridmesh® can be positioned using a sutureless technique, reducing the incidence of chronic pain
- its macro-porous structure allows for optimal fibroblastic infiltration (resulting in flexible rather than rigid scar tissue)
- minimal inflammatory reaction
- it allows for optimal tissue integration
- it retains structural stability even after partial absorption
- it gives patients maximum comfort.
