Intra Dysovinol - Non-Antibiotic Treatment Product for Swine Dysentery
Swine dysentery caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae continues to be a serious and re-emerging challenge affecting pigs of all ages. Brachyspira hyodysenteriae infection in pigs (Swine Dysentery) colonizes the large intestine which results in diarrhea, decreased feed conversion, growth losses and mortality. It is estimated to cost the industry over €10 per pig in feed inefficiencies and treatment costs.
There have been no new treatments available for several years and there have been no non-antimicrobial veterinary treatments. Intra Dysovinol is a unique non-antibiotic veterinary medicine. The boat-shaped molecule works by blocking the Outer Membrane Protein (OMP) and preventing bacterial attachment to the villi of the intestinal epithelia. It also prevents the release of haemolysins that degrade the epithelium and result in bleeding.
