An oxygen concentrator is a device that utilizes the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) principle of molecular sieves to increase oxygen concentration by adsorbing nitrogen and other gas components. When the equipment is in operation, compressed air is injected into a sealed adsorption tower filled with molecular sieves, causing the pressure inside the tower to rise. As the environmental pressure increases, the molecular sieves adsorb a large amount of nitrogen from the compressed air, while the oxygen in the compressed air remains in a gaseous state and is collected through certain pipes. This process is known as the adsorption process.
When the molecular sieves inside the container reach the critical state of adsorption saturation, the adsorption tower is depressurized by blowing air. As the environmental pressure decreases, the molecular sieves’ ability to adsorb nitrogen decreases, and the nitrogen is released from inside the molecular sieves and discharged as waste gas. This process is commonly referred to as the desorption process. To ensure a continuous and stable supply of oxygen, oxygen concentrators use two molecular adsorption towers, alternating work through a separation valve control, with one tower in the adsorption process while the other is in the desorption process.
