MI - Model SBL - Spontaneous Breathing Lung Simulator
From Lung Simulators
The Spontaneous Breathing Lung Simulator (SBL) offers an updated way to create spontaneous breathing. This is available as an independent device or upgrade your current generation TTL or PneuView Simulator. Spontaneous breathing simulations are especially useful for designing, testing, and providing training on non-invasive and supportive modes of ventilation and oxygenation. The breathing is controlled using our simple and intuitive, windows-based software program.

Features
The Spontaneous Breathing Lung (SBL) provides accurate simulation of a breathing patient on any of our lung simulators.
The SBL allows control of breath rate, tidal volume, inspiratory time, and inspiratory flow pattern.
-
Breath Rates of 2 to 30 per minute
- Tidal Volumes of 100 to 1,800 ml
- Inspiratory times of .5 to 5.0 seconds
- Square or Sine Inspiratory Flow Waveforms
Real-World Training & Testing Applications
There are a growing number of therapeutic devices and modalities that are made to function with a spontaneous breathing patient. Using the Spontaneous Breathing Lung, you now can create a wide variety of scenarios and breathing patterns to use during student education or training of established professionals on a new device.
TestingThe SBL™ facilitates troubleshooting and testing of devices meant to operate on spontaneous breathing patients. Test your device’s ability to detect the start of a breath, to avoid breath-stacking, and more.
Research & DevelopmentThe sky is the limit in terms of research applications! Any research requiring breathing is a candidate for the Spontaneous Breathing Lung. Michigan Instruments devices have been historically used for everything—from studying the dispersion of aerosols and inhalers to assessing the responsiveness of new technologies.
