In April 1987, an important step was taken: VMI – Indústria e Comércio Ltda launched the Pulsar 400, Pulsar 500 SR and Pendulum equipment during the Jornada Paulista de Radiologia. The number of employees is 41.

During the year of 1988, in compliance with a short-term growth strategy, it won a large tender in the state of São Paulo for a total of 48 X-ray equipment, giving a new boost to production and the number of employees reached 76 .

In 1989, the project area was expanded and, through an agreement with INFRAERO, Spectrum 150 was developed for use at airports in the inspection of baggage. The line of transportable X-rays Aquilla 120/300/500 model and the Pulsar 800 was also launched. The industrial area was expanded by more than 900 m2.

From 1990 onwards, already having its own technology, it was defined by launches: Remote-controlled table, high-resolution three-phase mammograph and radiotherapy simulator, pioneers in terms of equipment produced in the country.

The next years 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 were dedicated to consolidating the brand by restructuring the network of representatives and in November 1994 the 1st National Conference of VMI Representatives is held.

In 1995, the technological base of the projects was changed and the era of high frequency generators and microprocessed controls began.

The position taken is strategic and with a view to the future. A worldwide trend was to come to involving this technology and safety standards aimed at extremely low dosage levels to be adopted in European countries, the United States, Canada and Japan.

At the same time, we started to take part in and influence decisions involving IEC 601 safety standards, Sanitary Surveillance Registry, CB26, CB20 and policy decisions at ABIMO and Mercosul. And the results are immediate, in 1995 we received an award for quality and technology in Rome. In 1999 Ecri Magazine (Healthcare Product Comparison System) invites us to join the group of cutting edge technology companies to be evaluated by consumers around the world.

All line equipment is Registered in the Sanitary Surveillance of the Ministry of Health. We are factory certified by the IEC 601 standards and on January 27, 1999 we received the recommendation for certification of the Quality Management System based on the NBR ISO 9001/94 standard. At the same time, the Plus line is being developed, a programmed technique for organs, automatic exposure.

On July 5, 2002 we inaugurated the new Industrial Headquarters in Lagoa Santa. In an area of 22000 m², with 7,000 m² of built area, complying with the most up-to-date construction and environmental conservation techniques, in accordance with ISO 14000 standards. This complex is capable of meeting the needs of projecting, developing and manufacturing equipment, in addition to providing a safe environment geared to the needs of its team of employees, comprising an office, factory, laboratories, training center for 70 people, study hall and leisure area, multi-sports court, orchard and vegetable garden.

This manufacturing unit was designed not only for productivity, but also for quality, comfort and safety, and we are sure that each level reached in our journey will be reached with the same efficiency that has driven us so far.

On 03/03/2000, the bold project was developed for the production in Brazil of equipment improved at cardiovascular diagnosis.
On 06/03/2001 we placed on the market equipment for simulation in brachytherapy and on 04/03/2002 radiotherapy simulator.

In 2002 a partnership was formed with the foreign company to create a new industry for the manufacture of X-rays for inspection of volumes (Luggage scanner), where we started to operate in the security market.

This set of measures makes VMI competitive for the challenges of the 21st century.
On 06/01/2016 we started to work in the area of diagnosis through VMI Tecnologias Ltda.
