Yukon ClearTip -Nasal Swab
The Yukon Nasal Swab has progressively curved collection channels that vary as the swab is rotated to optimize specimen collection and release. The swab tip is uniquely shaped to comfortably navigate the nasal space.
Our anterior nasal, mid-turbinate nasal, and nasopharyngeal ClearTipTM swabs are designed to optimize the collection and adherence of upper respiratory biological samples and maximize the ability to clear the full sample from the swab tip.
The alternating smooth channels allow the tips to flex easily in all directions to comfortably navigate the unique curves in each patient. The swabs also have a breakpoint that can be customized to specific diagnostic tests to reduce the risk of sample contamination.
Made from biocompatible, medical grade materials, ClearTip swabs do not interfere with molecular assays. The absence of absorbent flocking or foam allows the sample to be easily cleared into assay workflows, minimizing loss of sample and reagents in small volume diagnostic tests and resulting in enhanced assay performance. Recent results from ongoing studies for both clinical performance and patient experience show ClearTip swabs perform equivalently or better than flocked or foam swabs currently on the market.
Part of our mission at Yukon Medical is to keep healthcare workers safe and ensure they have the tools they need to do their job. This is how our pharmaceutical preparation and drug delivery devices were born, and the genesis of our ClearTip swabs is much the same.
As the COVID-19 outbreak took hold, our team worked nights and weekends to explore ways we could help address the healthcare community’s critical need for supplies. We joined task forces that worked to fill the need for face masks, face shields, ventilators, and swabs, and soon discovered our high-volume manufacturing infrastructure and regulatory expertise meant we were uniquely positioned to rapidly design, manufacture, scale, and deliver swabs to clinics, labs, testing sites, and manufacturers of COVID-19 assays. Yukon was subsequently awarded support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADxSM) initiative to expedite the launch of our ClearTip swabs.
