Acksen - Model 5060-T - Personal Voltage Alarm, Wearable Safety Aid Live Alarm

For use with 50 and 60 Hz AC Transmission power systems (Typically 132 - 400 kV). Detects the presence of potentially lethal voltages thus provides additional protection against injury from electric shock. Emits a loud 70 dB alarm every ½ second as wearer approaches live equipment to warn them of the presence of high voltage.

Designed and built in the EU, the Live Alarm was developed as a direct response to a specific need within the electrical power industry. The Live Alarm provides additional protection against injury from electric shock, by providing a safety warning aid for all personnel working on equipment which they believe to be dead but which may inadvertently remain or become live. The Live Alarm should be used by personnel searching for downed power lines after a storm.

For example: the Live Alarm is clipped to the belt or coat of an operational engineer while they fault locate along a high voltage line to detect fallen conductors. As the engineer approaches a fence (e.g. barbed wire or cattle fence) which has become live due to a fallen overhead conductor, the Live Alarm will sound a loud 70dB alarm every ½ second to warn the engineer of the proximity of this hazardous voltage.
Each Live Alarm has a factory set alarm distance from a specific voltage source. Clipped to a coat or belt, the Live Alarm will sound a loud 70 dB alarm every ½ second as the wearer approaches live equipment. With the typical factory settings it will alarm within several metres of a high voltage source. However each situation is different - the alarm distance depends on the voltage level and the distance from the source. Ultra low power consumption in its quiescent state allows each Live Alarm to run for up to 1½ years on one alkaline battery. The Live Alarm does have a low battery warning alarm. Easy-to-use, the unit has only two (membrane) user switches which test the integrity of the detection circuit. Packaged in a small rugged ‘clip-on’ case (approximately the same size as an audio cassette) and waterproofed to IP65, the Live Alarm is easily clipped on a belt or pocket.
