Laseroptek PicoLO -Picosecond Laser Technology
Advancing The Science and Clinical Application of Picosecond Laser Technology. LASEROPTEK’s PicoLO Premium is packed with innovation, representing a major step forward in picosecond pulse lasers for medical aesthetics. This next-generation pico laser delivers new levels of clinical effectiveness and efficiency enabling advanced treatments that address skin rejuvenation, scars, benign pigmented lesions, and tattoo removal. Combining extremely stable Nd:YAG 1064 & 532nm picosecond pulse generation with a range of novel energy delivery handpiece technologies, PicoLO Premium enables precise, comfortable, and efficacious medical aesthetic procedures that benefit clinicians and patients alike.
- Pulse Duration Stability
PicoLO Premium generated 1064nm and 532nm pulse durations were measured by an oscilloscope and charted. The standard deviation at both wavelengths is below 2% indicating a stability of 98%.
Oscilloscope and energy meter measurements taken at both 1064 and 532nm demonstrates PicoLO Premium’s ability to generate consistent, peak pulses. The test data confirms output energy standard deviation below 5% at 1064nm and below 2% at 532nm.

- Stability Enables Results
LASEROPTEK’s in-house design, engineering, and manufacturing competence enable the technology behind PicoLO Premium’s class-leading picosecond energy and pulse duration stability.

Picosecond laser pulses creating a photomechanical effect are on the order of 10 times shorter duration than pulses produced by traditional nanosecond Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers which create a photothermal effect. Both photomechanical and photothermal effects effectively treat a variety of aesthetic indications such as skin rejuvenation, scar revision, as well as the removal of tattoos and benign pigmented lesions, but do so via different mechanisms. Longer nanosecond pulses are designed to heat tissue, whereas shorter picosecond pulses produce cavitation shock and significantly much lower tissue heating. Pico pulses shatter pigments and create LIOB micro-injuries in tissue delivering efficacious results with notably lower incidence of thermal injury, side effects, and downtime. PicoLO Premium treatments exhibit optimal outcomes with quick recovery times from a small number of treatments resulting in high patient and physician satisfaction.
A predominant photomechanical effect made by PicoLO Premium’s ultra-short pulses reduces epidermal injury and enhances to fragment the deeper pigment and ink particles. Faster treatment results with shorter treatment sessions.
PicoLO Premium’s Dia FX handpieces are embedded with an innovative addition to maximize physician comfort. The newly developed handpieces feature a “Twist & Treat” function allowing physicians to target multiple depths when treating conditions at the twist of the wrist.
Three distinct penetration depths are available to selectively target the dermis, upper dermis, and epidermis thereby selectively generating Laser-Induced Optical Breakdowns (LIOB) at the targeted tissue layers. This approach allows physicians to fine-tune treatments by controlling the depth at which micro-injuries are created thereby stimulating the desired wound healing responses that deliver customized rejuvenation outcomes.
Handpieces of PicoLO Premium are equipped with LASEROPTEK’s proprietary DOE Fractional Technology which is a generated fractional grid pattern for application in aesthetic laser treatments. This technology provides uniform fluence, ablation/penetration depth, safety, and even distribution of energy.
