MagentaModel pLVAD - Self-Expanding Percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device

SHARE

The Magenta percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device (pLVAD) is a self-expanding percutaneous catheter-mounted arterial pump that is intended to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support for the left ventricle (LV) during high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (HR-PCI) and in patients hospitalized with cardiogenic shock (CS). In the course of HR-PCI and CS, the LV may require support in pumping oxygenated blood from the ventricle into the aorta, so that adequate cardiac output, arterial blood pressure and coronary and end-organ perfusion could be maintained.

Placed across the aortic valve, the Magenta pLVAD draws blood from the LV and expels it into the aorta. The pump thereby reduces both the pressure and the volume of the LV, thus decreasing wall stress and overall myocardial oxygen consumption.

The Magenta pLVAD is a miniaturized pump that is introduced percutaneously into the LV via a low-profile introducer sheath in the femoral artery, with a crimping profile 4 times smaller than the operating (fully expanded) profile in the LV. The duration of support varies from hours (HR-PCI) to days (CS).

The Magenta pLVAD is not yet commercially available in any jurisdiction.

Our percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device (pLVAD) is a next-generation low-profile arterial pump, intended for temporary support of patients undergoing high-risk coronary interventions and the treatment of patients admitted with cardiogenic shock.

Our Transcatheter Renal Venous Decongestion (TRVD™) System is a venous pump intended for the treatment of hospitalized patients with acutely decompensated heart failure, by reducing the renal venous pressure and decompressing the kidneys.
