Wastewater engineers have long identified the lack "bio-chemically available oxygen”, as a failure point in achieving environmental wastewater goals. Shortcomings of Aeration
- Starts with a poor oxygen source (ambient air contains only 20% O2, which creates nitrogen rich bubbles, not oxygen rich bubbles).
- Produces large bubbles which rise too quickly to be useful to the wastewater`s biomass reducing the BOD/COD removal rates.
- Bubbles coalesce (two bubbles collide to form an even bigger bubble, which accelerates the rise rate.
Solution
- Utilizes a pure oxygen source to create an oxygen-rich bubble.
- Leverages "applied pressure" to produce microscopic bubbles that rise slowly, improving BOD/COD removal.
- Produces bubbles with like charges that resist coalescing (reduced rise rate increases contact time and increases the likelihood of achieving environmental goals).
