Symani - Surgical System
Introducing the Symani® Surgical System, developed specifically to address the challenges of microsurgery. Symani is the only system that offers wristed microinstruments designed to improve a surgeon’s ability to access and suture small, delicate anatomy. The platform provides motion scaling and tremor reduction to allow the surgeon to perform precise micro-movements. The proprietary, NanoWrist® microinstruments add the needed dexterity to confidently access and suture hard to reach anatomy. In addition, the Symani Robotic System has the potential to expand human capabilities beyond what’s achievable today. This enables more surgeons to successfully perform microsurgery while expanding the capabilities of the surgeon to address the complexities of supermicrosurgery.

Products Details
The Symani® Surgical System is a flexible platform consisting of two robotic arms that can be easily positioned to facilitate surgical procedures across any anatomical region. The innovative design is optimized for ease of use and set-up for the surgeon and surgical team.
The system features 7-20X motion scaling with tremor filtration to address the demands and complexity of microsurgery and supermicrosurgery. This powerful combination allows surgeons to scale their hand movements while seamlessly articulating the proprietary, NanoWrist® robotic microinstruments.
The Symani Console consists of an ergonomic chair and surgeon controlled manipulators along with a footswitch controller. While comfortably seated, the surgeon can directly control the manipulators in the same manner as they would with manual instrumentation. The console offers the flexibility to be positioned at the patient bedside or can be used with a heads-up 3D visualization system.
Symani’s NanoWrist Instruments are the world’s smallest, wristed surgical instruments which are intended to improve a surgeon’s natural dexterity and range of motion beyond the capability of the human hand.
The NanoWrist Needle Holder and Dilator with their 3mm shafts allow for an unobstructed view of the target anatomy while the 7 Degrees of Freedom offered by the wrist enable the precision and control necessary for surgeons to manipulate and suture delicate structures.
Symani Procedures
Symani® is intended for open surgery where the needs of precision and motion scaling are deemed beneficial by the surgeon. With Symani, surgeons can perform suturing, ligation, anastomoses and coaptations on small anatomical structures such as blood vessels, nerves and lymphatic ducts.
These techniques are commonly used in surgeries spanning multiple specialties and departments throughout the hospital:
Examples of Symani Procedures:
- Free flap reconstructions including perforator-to-perforator
- Lymphatic surgery such as lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfers (VLNT)
- Trauma reconstructions and replantations
- Peripheral nerve repair
- Reconstructions for congenital malformations
- Microsurgical Vessel Repair
