TOYOBO PELPRENE -Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer

SHARE

PELPRENE is the trade name of TOYOBO`s thermoplastic polyester elastomer.  PELPRENE is an engineering elastomer having a combination of the features of both rubbers and engineering plastics, eliminating the demarcation between rubbers and engineering plastics. PELPRENE can be processed using  injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and more., It can be used to make products ranging  from micro-precision parts to thin wide-sheets. Among thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), PELPRENE comes closest to engineering plastics, and has superb reliability.

  1. 1. Comparison of typical features: PELPRENE (P vs. S) vs. TPU vs. TPO
  2. 2. Heat-resistant life of PELPRENE (Arrhenius plots)
    • The heat-resistant life of the typical brands of PELPRENE is shown in the figure below. The heat-resistant life at a given temperature is defined as the elapsed time until the tensile elasticity of each brand is deteriorated to 50% of the initial value in the heat-aging test in high temperatures. The elapsed times reaching 50% tensile elasticity deterioration vs. applied temperatures are shown in this figure.

Highly-resilient PELPRENE is classified into several types from general purpose to specialized,  categorized according to the paring of soft and hard segments.

P-Type consists of polybutylene terephthalate as hard segments and aliphatic polymers as soft segments, and has the best balance and flexibly for general purpose use.

S-Type has  physical properties comparable to P-Type, but boasts medium to high hardness as well as higher heat and weather durability.
