Brainbox -Model DuoMAG MP -Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) System
The DuoMAG MP TMS system for monophasic transcranial magnetic stimulation boasts a durable, robust, and compact design with a high-energy stimulation output for best-in-class TMS research.
What is TMS and why is it used?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) can be used by neuroscientists to measure the activity and function of specific brain circuits in humans. Through the placement of an electromagnetic coil on a patient`s head, the TMS system can generate a very strong magnetic field that passes through the scalp and into the individual`s targeted brain regions in order to induce action potentials in the subject.
The most robust and widely accepted use of TMS is in the measurement of the connections between the primary motor cortex and a muscle to evaluate damage in patients suffering from neurological diseases and conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, movement disorders, motor neurone disease, migraine, and other injuries and disorders that affect the facial and cranial nerves and the spinal cord.
For non-invasive brain stimulation studies concentrating on research in this area, Brainbox is proud to offer the powerful DuoMAG MP single-pulse, monophasic stimulator.
The DuoMAG MP
The DuoMAG MP is a powerful, and user-friendly TMS machine, capable of delivering high energy pulses to a subject at an unrivalled 2Hz frequency. The DuoMAG capacitor delivers pulses of up to 700J from the highly-portable stimulator module, with the compact design allowing for the device to be mounted on a desktop or on a proprietary cart device (pictured) to allow for ultimate ease-of-movement between laboratories.
Compatible with a comprehensive range of coils for maximum control over stimulation site, subject, and protocol, the DuoMAG MP system offers the user the option to easily configure and activate the stimulator by means of the in-built coil controls for setting intensity and triggering TMS; control via an external computer or device; or by means of the TTL port located on the rear of the stimulator module.
For further flexibility of control, the DuoMAG MP can also be controlled by a number of third-party applications by means of an API, which the Brainbox team can help in setting up.
An integrated screen on the front of the stimulator module allows the user to quickly and easily view the stimulator status and output intensity at all times.
For studies exploring the motor cortex, the DuoMAG MP can be configured with the proprietary DuoMAG software and a four-channel electromyography (EMG) headbox, allowing researchers to record and analyse motor evoked potentials (MEPs) during their TMS experiment.
Fully Upgradeable for Expanded Research Needs
The DuoMAG MP range of monophasic TMS systems boast a unique, modular construction that allows users to upgrade and expand their device`s capabilities as research requirements change.
Two DuoMAG MP stimulators can be combined into a single system - the DuoMAG MP-Dual - for paired pulse TMS applications, with the possibility to upgrade this system further into the DuoMAG MP-Quad, designed specifically for groundbreaking quadripulse stimulation.
Designed Specifically for Monophasic TMS
The DuoMAG MP system has been designed specifically to offer optimal performance for even the most demanding research applications using monophasic transcranial magnetic stimulation. Find out more about the various types of TMS here.
Compatible with a Range of Complementary Technologies
The DuoMAG MP integrates seamlessly with a number of other technologies from the Brainbox catalogue, including neuronavigation systems such as the Brainsight TMS Navigation system, TruScan Research EEG, Axilum TMS Robot and much more. NUMEROUS CONFIGURATIONS
The DuoMAG MP can be configured in a way to suit all budgets and workspaces. The system can be delivered as a simple desktop setup for those who wish to deliver single pulse TMS pulses; with a proprietary cart device for situations where the stimulator may need to be moved often; and can be supplied with a touchscreen interface and MEP module to record all participant EMG responses, depending on the requirements of each researcher`s requirements.
The modular design of the system also provides users with the option to `upgrade` their system in future to expand the stimulator`s capabilities to paired pulse TMS or even quadripulse TMS.
MULTI-SYSTEM INTEGRATION
The system can be easily integrated with Deymed`s clinical EMG and EEG amplifies, allowing for multiple configurations of EMG/MEP or EEG signals to be displayed.
EASILY CONTROLLABLE
Built-in controls on the TMS coil handles allow the user to quickly adjust stimulator intensity without moving away from the subject and to deliver a TMS pulse with the touch of a button.
The system also features USB 2.0 and TTL ports, allowing users to easily interface the stimulator with other devices and equipment, or to control factors such as intensity or triggering through external systems such as Signal, MatLAB, or Python.
INTELLIGENT CHARGING ABILITIES
The DuoMAG MP makes use of new ultra-low capacitance induction charging technology from Deymed Diagnostic in order to guarantee the highest-quality EMG signal possible.
This technology makes the system suitable for sensitive neurophysiological tests, while also keeping the system`s batteries at full charge.
