Being able to use our hands is paramount! Our hands are involved in nearly everything we do – from brushing our teeth in the morning to working during the day to carrying our tired children in the evening. An impaired hand function can therefore have profound consequences both at work and at home. This may affect society as a whole and also the physical and mental health of the individual. Providing people with tools and corrective actions so they can continue to work or return to work after sick leave is very important.

Proven to improve

With many unique features Carbonhand is developed for both assistive and rehabilitation use. Several clinical studies with close to 200 included users show statistically significant improvements in grip strength, hand functionality and other outcome measurements.

Carbonhand provides enhanced hand function

Carbonhand’s function is similar to that of our own hands. A hand grip is usually initiated from the fingertips to the muscles of the forearm. These muscles pull the tendons that go out to the fingers.

Carbonhand works the same way: The sensitive pressure sensors in the glove’s fingertips detect when the user grabs an object. A microcomputer calculates the amount of power to be added and small motors pull artificial tendons that go into the glove’s fingers. The tendons pull the glove’s fingers and the extra force is created. The greater the pressure on the sensors, the more power the glove provides. Carbonhand also adjusts the power added to the weight of the object to be lifted.

Adjustable to fit your need

You can preset different grip profiles containing tailored combinations of settings that are adjusted to the useres personal needs. For example, the strength and sensitivity of the sensors as well as the amount of extra power. This may be suitable if you are in need of different amounts of power at different times. For example, there may be a need for less assistance in the morning than in the afternoon when you are tired or if you have different types of tasks that require a lot of power. All adjustments can easily be done using the Carbonhand app. Additionally, the length of the fingers in the Carbonhand glove can be adjusted to the wearer.

The Carbonhand glove is available in a variety of sizes and cable lengths in order to fit the user. The control unit can easily be worn to the belt. The total weight is approximately 700 grams, including rechargeable batteries that last for about one day.
Carbonhand is a CE marked Medical Device.
