In the 1920’s a company called Ille Electric Corporation started manufacturing stainless steel swimming pools for Polio victims. In following years they expanded into stainless steel whirlpool tanks, Hubbard, and burn tanks for therapy. Ille was bought and sold several times through the years being owned by companies including Beatrice Foods and Market Forge, and then in 1983 they were purchased by Ferno Washington. Ferno expanded the Ille division through acquisitions, partnerships and new product designs.

In 1997-98 the first AquaPAWS underwater treadmill system for canines was designed. Then in early 2000 the AquaPACER equine underwater treadmill was

developed and sold. Five years later, Ferno Washington purchased EESI Engineering, based in Angola, Ind., where the AquaPAWS, AquaPOOLS and AquaGAITER were manufactured.

In 2010, the aquatic division of Ferno Washington was acquired by The Ellis Company and was rebranded as Hudson Aquatic Systems LLC. Now Hudson operates out of a 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Angola, Ind., and manufactures a wide range of aquatic therapy equipment for both humans and animals.
