Verisense -Model DHP -Digital Health Panel Software

SHARE

The IRB-approved Verisense Digital Health Panel (DHP) bridges the gap in data between the thousands of highly targeted, but small and siloed, scientific studies and the vast, but proprietary, consumer wearables datasets which lack good outcome measures. The DHP enables the integration of many independent studies by collecting device independent raw sensor data and patient reported outcomes at scale using a highly efficient data collection infrastructure. We then merge these data with real world data from partners using tokenization to get comprehensive objective assessments of participant outcomes.

Although there are lots of digital health data, there is a lack of the type of data that is really needed – large samples of longitudinal ground-truth, raw sensor data paired with reliable outcome data.

Scientific Studies

Allow for targeted samples with well defined outcomes. High quality sensor data with transparent analysis is typically generated.

However studies are often small, and over a short duration. Researchers will often use different outcome metrics making it difficult to combine studies.

Consumer Wearable Data

Provide huge samples at minimimal cost.

However samples are uncontrolled and participation duration can vary wildly. Consumer devices use their own proprietary analysis making true validation and data sharing difficult. Raw sensor data is generally not available and outcome data is often spotty at best.

The Verisense sensor records the trial participants’ data onto an in-built flash memory card within the sensor. Once the sensor is in range of the base station, the base station will perform an automated data download. This is done via a password protected Bluetooth connection. The base station then performs an automated data upload to the AWS server through a local WiFi network or cellular connection.

The AWS server then relays that data to the web interface at the relevant trial sites, anywhere in the world. This web interface allows access to all the raw data, as well as analyzed data using peer reviewed algorithms (GGIR) for activity and sleep metrics.

All data from the participants’ sensor to the web interface is anonymized. Only the site managers will have the corresponding participant and sensor IDs.

Although there are lots of digital health data, there is a lack of the type of data that is really needed – large samples of longitudinal ground-truth, raw sensor data paired with reliable outcome data. Verisense Health addresses this with:

  • Large sample sizes
  • Targeted and general population samples
  • Transparent analysis
  • High-quality, device independent sensor data
  • Excellent outcome data through RWD and ePRO
  • Integrates data from many studies
  • Longitudinal data available
  • Low-cost data collection
  • Share data with any qualified researcher

Verisense Health is building a Digital Biobank to provide the data to identify and validate Digital Biomarkers. The Digital Biobank is a repository of raw digital sensor data with associated patient reported outcomes and tokens to enable access to real world data, including medical records, claims data, pharmacy data, etc. on an anonymous basis.  The Digital Biobank is being seeded with data collected by Verisense Health, both from internally sponsored studies and from external sponsors who are leveraging Verisense Health’s highly efficient infrastructure, the Digital Health Panel

The Digital Health Panel combines decentralized trial approaches with existing infrastructure and RWD.

Verisense Health sits at the center of this infrastructure with it’s custom built data collection and study management platform integrating data from a variety of partners:

Participant Management Partner
  • 22 Locations
  • 400k existing panel members
  • 300+ diseases
  • Hundres of projects per year
Customers/ Sponsors of Research
  • Commission new research
  • Provide existing datasets
Real-World Data (RWD) Partners
  • Generate tokens
  • Provide pseudonymized participant RWD, as needed

Verisense Health will work with any digital health technology provider that is committed to providing raw data. The use of raw data makes the Digital Biobank device agnostic in that any device using the same type of sensors (e.g., accelerometers) can utilize analysis algorithms developed with these data.  In addition, Verisense Health will work with any device manufacturer to incorporate their data into the Digital Biobank.
