WebBioBank - Deep Brain Recordings and Clinical Data Viewer Software
WebBioBank is a platform specifically developed to collect and analyze neuronal signals integrated with clinical data recorded from patients undergoing neuromodulation treatments, in particular deep brain stimulation (DBS). WebBioBank includes neuro-biosignals and clinical data collected. WebBioBank now integrates neuronal signals with other relevant biosignals including accelerometer data and gait analysis data.
The neuro-biosignals collected in WebBioBank represent the direct neuronal response to many conditions, including pharmacological or neuromodulation treatments, motor tasks, action observation experiments, cognitive and behavioral stimuli, in several neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders (Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, Tourette syndrome, depression, Huntington’s chorea, …). Up to now, the neuro-biosignals in the WebBioBank were used by researchers to uncover neurophysiological dynamics of deep brain structures, DBS mechanisms of action, the neurophysiological mechanisms grounding behavioral and cognitive processes (gambling, ethical choices, emotional processing), and to create new adaptive DBS (aDBS) algorithms.
Anonymous data collection for multicenter studies
WebBioBank was designed to ensure patient’s privacy also in multicenter studies. WebBioBank implements a de-identification process that allows only the clinical centers in charge of the patient to access demographic data. All other centers participating in a multi-center trial have access to clinical data and signals safeguarding patient’s privacy.
Advanced signal analysis tools shared among researchers
The biosignal analysis module in WebBioBank allows researchers to upload, use, and share their processing algorithms and to create and run on-line signal processing chains specifically dedicated to neuro-biosignals.
Flexible and customizable data collection forms
WebBioBank allows researchers to create their own templates for clinical data and neuro-biosignal collection and to share them among the centers participating in the study, ensuring homogeneous data collection and reducing biases due to the different clinical and surgical practices.
Flexible and customizable access policies
Access policies are directly controlled by the principal investigator who defines roles and functions of all the team participating to the clinical study.
WebBioBank is composed by a clinical data and neuro-biosignal repository integrated with a signal processing module. The platform can be accessed through a standard web browser.
Doctors and Researchers can access WebBioBank to collect, manage, and analyze data and signals. Mobile and medical devices are connected to the WebBioBank to allow direct data collection. A mobile application allows patients to receive treatment and rehabilitation recommendations from the care team and to collect patient-generated data.
