Clinisys (US) Integrated Diagnostics for Early Detection - Clinisys Customer Summit - Video
In this interview, Clinisys asked Dr. John Sinard, Vice Chair and Director of Clinical Operations in Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine, to reflect on the benefits his own anatomic pathology team at Yale has experienced in justifying the expense of implementing a digital pathology program. Dr. Sinard cautioned that there are opportunities for individuals to overrepresent the short-term benefits of investment in digital pathology. Rather, he suggests looking to individual use cases of tangible benefits to gain support for the program. At Yale, one such use case is the need for specimen material to be on hand if a referral case comes up for multidisciplinary tumor board review or if surgical resection comparison to the original specimen is needed. Another use case for immunohistochemistry lab is to have a digital scan of the positive controls for any batch can match up the stains and the identifier for the positive control for that batch. Lastly, digital pathology images solve the travel/pack problem for the transportation, logistics, and handling for a specimen that would otherwise need to be read at a different physical location. Dr. Sinard was filmed onsite at the Clinisys Customer Summit, held March 13 to 16, 2023 in Frisco, Texas, where Clinisys leaders, keynote speakers, and industry experts discussed the convergence of laboratory informatics across clinical and environmental disciplines and projected the pathways necessary toward the lab of the future.
