Dr. Luzzi is of the opinion that there really is no need for different LIS (laboratory information system) and LIMS (laboratory information management system) systems. Clinical laboratories, environmental laboratories, healthcare professionals, scientists, and environmental group shave the same goals, to collect, process, and produce test data. Even as recently as 50 years ago, laboratorians couldn’t imagine we would be talking today about the virtual CLIA lab, where the data is the specimen.
